Navigating School and Football: AJM's PDH Journey

Our son, AJM, is 11 and is on the milder end of the PDH spectrum at the moment. He loves the colour yellow, fidget toys, and learning football songs. He has a fantastic memory, loves to talk about football facts, and enjoys playing football or basketball with his brother, even though he can’t sustain long periods of activity.

He gets up and ready for school with some assistance with buttons and boots. We managed to get him into a smaller secondary school out of our catchment, so he has a school minibus ride to get there. He attends this mainstream school with support, leaving classes a few minutes early to avoid busy corridors. He finds PE challenging but does enjoy kicking a ball around with his friends. After school, his energy levels dip; he chills out, does some homework, and then has his tea (often with help to eat) before showering with assistance and going to bed.

The Freya Foundation have been amazing. Just to know that others get what you are going through makes a huge difference. We attended the annual get-together last year, and it was lovely to chat with other families. They are also amazing at keeping in touch and updating us with progress or news concerning PDH.
